I'm already a fan of Karen Jones' writing and was not disappointed by her debut novella-in-flash. At times Bernadette's story is incredibly sad, the themes often dark in tone and yet there are still moments of wonderful humour. The nuns in particular make me laugh every time I think of them trying to lead a class on sex education for a group of teenage girls who are far more experienced than their teachers. The writing is tart and always hits target, every word and phrase perfectly placed.
Knowing how well Jones always reads her work I think this would make a marvellous audio book.
